But sad to think of how many lives this is going to impact.

I don't understand how the Dubai government can wash their hands off the debt, surely they had a hand in the whole scheme?Bannohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03855784743978203037noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7024210672199702325.post-62363117976868869282009-12-02T09:10:49.011+05:302009-12-02T09:10:49.011+05:30The stories coming out of Dubai this year have bee...The stories coming out of Dubai this year have been weird in a way that matches the city itself, no? Top end cars abandoned at the airport by foreigners fleeing debtors' prison and so on.
Johann Hari's piece written back in April still seems to me the best overall view: http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/commentators/johann-hari/the-dark-side-of-dubai-1664368.html
But there are still plenty of people on TV saying 'the fundamental Dubai story is still strong'. I doubt it is, as do you. What I don't understand is why so many Brits bought into this Dubai Lifestyle idea. I guess they've already bought up the south of France...Girish Shahanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16877402074547726173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7024210672199702325.post-11979560050957903772009-12-02T00:59:42.629+05:302009-12-02T00:59:42.629+05:30Girish
