I just don't see any reason to build skywalks where perfectly good pavements exist.Girish Shahanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16877402074547726173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7024210672199702325.post-86164159741692932762009-04-19T10:47:00.000+05:302009-04-19T10:47:00.000+05:30Girish, the BMC must've sent a gang to HK - where ...Girish, the BMC must've sent a gang to HK - where the skywalk ideas originated. Problem is HK have done a marvellous job it - they've linked all commercial bldgs thru skywalks and private ones usually are designed or retrofitted with a skywalk that connects to the public one. But that kind of thinking requires a municipal authority that wants to do good and thats not the bmc's agenda right ?

S AnandAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7024210672199702325.post-90601344547451829632009-04-16T23:37:00.000+05:302009-04-16T23:37:00.000+05:30I did wonder why a policeman was getting that post...I did wonder why a policeman was getting that post...Girish Shahanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16877402074547726173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7024210672199702325.post-67978036462139112312009-04-16T22:56:00.000+05:302009-04-16T22:56:00.000+05:30Sorry, ACP is wrong, shd be Additinal MC Projects....Sorry, ACP is wrong, shd be Additinal MC Projects.DSnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7024210672199702325.post-84593518166084716112009-04-16T21:34:00.000+05:302009-04-16T21:34:00.000+05:30The scary part of the scenario is if the rumour is...The scary part of the scenario is if the rumour is true, then the current ACP is going to be the next Secretary in charge of Forests in Maharashtra. From our experience on Nepean Sea Road during the road widening his team was completely insensitive to the alternate plans which could have saved 50 to 60 trees and pretty ruthless in cutting them wantonly.
The BMC constantly boast, and boast is the word, re how rich their coffers are, how they will acquire built up set backs (joke, for two months they cant get a tiny tea shop out) and how they have x lakhs of rupees for transplanting trees. Transplant is their new cut, and in this seemingly green guise they do such a shoddy job that someone remarked, yes transplant to Chandanwadi.
The ACP seems enamoured with "development" and in such a tearing hurry to spend lots of dosh from those overflowing coffers. Unless we start early and get a public campaign going now like all else a rear guard action will be too late.We saw it happen on our road, and feel the incredible heat now with the loss of green cover. An area the size of Rani Baug if lost will be catastrophic.

Skywalks are such a joke.Another loud intrusion into an already visually loud landscape. Agree with you totally, that when they should be enforcing basic civic laws they seem consumed with yet another disastrous and completely unnecessary civic amenity we poor battered souls can do without.DSnoreply@blogger.com
