No place like Bollywood

I got talking to a tourist on a train. "What do you plan to do in Bombay?" I asked.
He said he wanted to visit Elephanta and Bollywood.
I said, "Bollywood is not a place, it's a state of mindlessness."

That's good, although I will say that mindlessness can be a great state to be in. Wish I could get there more often.

hahaha.. good one. I am told the best bet for a tourist to visit bollywood is to hang around leopold and wait for some scouts to catch him for a two bit role in a bollywood blockbuster. how about that for 'experience tourism'

I am not so sure about Bollywood, but I love train conversations. A girl who had a salary raise was heard telling her friend, "Mujhe ab ek designer bag hi lena hai. Confuse ho rahi hoon, Loois Vitton loon ki Gukki?"

I imagine he is equating Bollywood with Filmcity in Goregaon. Busloads of tourists do go there and stand there as if stunned by magic!

Yes, Filmcity is where one ends up directing people who want to see Bollywood, but of course many foreign tourists assume Bollywood a physical location like Hollywood.
